09/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - Austrian Vice-Chancellor Hubert Gorbach suggested on 8 January, when speaking to a group of European journalists in Vienna, that the European Union should bring in a tax on speculation on international financial transfers. Proceeds from such a tax could contribute to reducing Member States' contributions to the EU budget, mainly those of key net contributors, “Austria for example”, Mr Gorbach said.
