09/06/2005 (Agence Europe) -In his general policy declaration before the National Assembly on Wednesday, the new French Prime Minister, Dominique de Villepin, said that "France, a founder country, will keep its place within the Union". "It will respect its commitments. It will continue to pull the European adventure upwards", he said, adding: "let us not interpret the 'no' to the referendum as a sign of French isolation (…). Let us open up new prospects, such as fiscal harmonisation or the union with Germany in areas chosen together" . It is worth noting that a Franco-German summit is to be held in Paris on 10 June, which the new French ministers, Philippe Douste-Blazy for foreign affairs and Catherine Colonna for European affairs are holding a preparatory meeting for in Berlin on 9 June.
