GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/ecb/appointments

26/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - Heads of States and Governments from Member States that have adopted the Euro on Friday by written procedure have selected Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell to the Board of Governors at the European Central Bank (ECB) for a lengthe of eight years. The appointment will take effect from 1 June 2003. The Vice Governor of the Austrian Central Bank will be replacing Sirkka Hämälainen from Finland.
