06/06/2002 (Agence Europe) - The Chinese Road Transport Association (CRTA) became an associate member of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) at the meeting of the IRU presidency, on 29 May in Bucharest. China's accession allows the IRU to achieve one of its ambitions, that of "revitalising the silk road", to "make road transport an alternative to air and maritime connections between Asia and Europe", said a press release.
