ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) telecommunications

TIM, mobile telephone subsidiary of TELECOM ITALIA, announced the acquisition of 38% of the capital in the Brazilian MAXITEL which it already controls with 58.7% of the capital. It acquired the stakes of 19.4% from UGB and those of 18.5% held by VICUNHA for USD 240.4 million. MAXITEL, in which TIM should hold in the end 100% of the capital, was estimated at USD 1.64 billion.
