- Portugal: The Portuguese State will continue the privatisation of EDP - ELECTRICIDADE DE PORTUGAL (staff of 13,883 people and a production capacity of 10,000 to 11,000 megawatts) on 18 October with an offer by prospectus covering 20% of the capital. The process had been started in 1997. After this operation, the State will only control 30% of EDP.
