ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) banks

UBS -UNION DES BANQUES SUISSES- is said to be close to acquiring control of the Swedish group ALFA LAVAL for SEK 17 billion, according to the financial daily DagensIndustri. The Swedish group allegedly prefers the Swiss offer over the bid by the British venture capital firm CHARTERHOUSE, which totalled SEK 15 billion.
