Italy's ENI has announed the success of its public takeover bid on BRITISH BORNEO, which valued the UK firm at EUR 437 million (see EI of 31 March). It did not specify the level of acceptance. Further, ITALGAS, the gas company controlled by ENI, has bought 49% of the Greek gas distribution firms for Saloniki and Thessaly, during their privatisation, for EUR 192 million, an operation giving it operational control over both firms.
