08/10/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 8 October, the Council of the EU decided to extend by one year, until 9 October 2027, the individual restrictive measures targeting those responsible for Russia’s destabilising actions abroad. The decision reflects the continuation and intensification of Russia’s hybrid activities, including Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI), according to a press release (see EUROPE 13723/32). These restrictive measures currently apply to 80 individuals and 20 entities. The assets of the persons and entities on the list are frozen, and EU citizens and companies are prohibited from making funds, financial assets or economic resources available to them. The individuals are also banned from entering or transiting through EU territory. The EU27 foreign ministers will adopt this measure on Monday 12 October. (SP)
