The European Commission launched a public consultation, on Tuesday 3 November, on the reparability of products covered by Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 on ecodesign for sustainable products (ESPR). Open to all interested individuals and organisations, the consultation aims to gather views ahead of an impact assessment on future measures.
The questionnaire covers problems relating to product reparability and their causes, the objectives to be pursued, and the various options under consideration and their consequences.
Contributions can be submitted through an online questionnaire until 9 February 2027.
The consultation forms part of the Commission’s preparatory work on reparability in connection with the ESPR Regulation and the digital product passport.
Regulation (EU) 2024/1781 aims to significantly improve the circularity, energy performance and other aspects of the environmental sustainability of products placed on the EU market.
