16/09/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 September, the European Commission welcomed the notification from 19 EU Member States of the creation of an ‘important project of common European interest’ (IPCEI) in the field of artificial intelligence, under the European framework for State aid. The aim of the ‘IPCEI-AI’ project, co-ordinated by Germany, is to develop cutting-edge technologies and AI management applications, as well as innovative industrial products and services. 11 of the participating countries will begin notifying the Commission about public aid for specific projects. 11 ‘IPCEI’ projects have been carried out since 2018, in particular on electric batteries, hydrogen, and cloud capacity.
