02/09/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission sent its first requests for information to more than 30 artificial intelligence (AI) providers, it specified on Tuesday 1 September. They come after several incidents involving AI models that occurred this summer. Sent by the AI Office under the AI Act, the bulk of whose provisions have applied since 2 August, these requests cover two separate strands. “The first concerns safety and security, notably the use of and the most advanced AI models. The second focuses more on copyright and transparency issues”, Thomas Regnier, spokesperson for the European Commission, specified. In this second strand, the requests target companies that have not “taken part in informal compliance dialogues with the AI Office,” Commission Vice-President Henna Virkkunen wrote on Sunday. (LD)
