08/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Youth Forum wants action. Ahead of Juncker's State of the Union speech on Wednesday 9 September, the European Youth Forum has criticised a lack of action on young people from European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, despite the promises he made when taking up office last year. “The Commission needs to do far more when it comes to tackling the problems affecting young people, in particular youth unemployment and addressing poverty and social exclusion should be given a higher priority when the Commission enters its second year of its mandate”, the Forum states in a press release. Looking forward to Juncker's speech, the leader of the European Youth Forum, Johanna Nyman, hopes that “after this, attention will move from the rhetoric to the real solutions to bring to the problems of young people, especially youth unemployment. We hope that young people will finally have full access to their rights and that discrimination based on age will be no more than a bad memory”, she says. (IL)
