29/04/2014 (Agence Europe) - Pervenche Berès says Juncker has never rolled up his sleeves over European minimum wage. On Tuesday 29 April, Pervenche Berès, the head of the PS (Parti socialiste) list in Ile-de-France (see other article) claimed that the European People's Party candidate for the presidency of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, “has never rolled up his sleeves” when it came to obtaining a European minimum wage. She informed a number of journalists that Jean-Claude Juncker “was the president of Eurogroup for eight years but he never rolled up his sleeves when it came to the question, for example, of the Economic and Monetary Union's human dimension, which obviously raises the question of a minimum wage, particularly in the euro zone”. She immediately added, however, that “we in the PS and Party of European Socialists have made this a frontline issue”. She believes that the possibility of the European minimum wage has become “possible”, thanks to the coalition agreement concluded in Germany between the CDU of Angela Merkel and the SPD (Social Democrats).
