01/08/2012 (Agence Europe) - New appointment: Mihai Tanasescu as EIB vice-president. On Wednesday 1 August 2012, Mihai Tanasescu was appointed as a vice-president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a member of the EIB's management committee. He started work that very same day, taking over from Plutarchos Sakellaris, who has completed his four-year term of office. Tanasescu is Romanian and was appointed by the EIB Governing Council following nomination by the Romanian finance minister. Tanasescu previously worked as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director and Member of Board of Executive Directors of the International Monetary Fund in Washington D. C. An economist by training, he was the Romanian finance minister from 2000 to 2004 and has also worked as an alternate executive director at the World Bank. (OL/transl.fl)
