01/08/2012 (Agence Europe) - Spain to publish draft budget for 2013-2014 on Friday. Despite setting 31 July 2012 as the deadline, the European Commission has not yet received from the Spanish government details of its draft budget for 2013-2014. A Commission spokesperson said on Wednesday 1 August that the Commission was expecting it any time now and the Spanish government itself says it will be sent in on Friday (3 August). Submission of the 2013-2014 budget is precondition set by the ECOFIN Council for postponing until 2014 the requirement that Spain bring its public deficit back below the 3% of GDP cut-off point (6.3% in 2012, 4.5% in 2013 and 2.8% in 2013) (see EUROPE 10652).
