Catherine Ashton, who is the EU foreign policy chief, “strongly condemns” the continuing acts of violence in Iraq, her spokesperson states in a press release published on Monday 26 September. Ashton deplores the 17 deaths and hundreds of wounded caused by terrorist attacks on 25 September, targeting government buildings in Karbala, as well as targeted assassinations of government officials in Baghdad.
