01/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - On 31 May, the Council adopted a regulation which adds Iceland to the list of countries eligible for EU pre-accession aid to help applicant countries come into line with the body of European law, the acquis communautaire. Iceland applied to become a member of the EU in July 2009. The positive opinion from the Commission on the application, published on 24 February, is currently under discussion in the Council.
