MEPs agree on 70% reduction in CO2 emissions for new heavy-duty vehicles from 2035 and 90% reduction from 2040 onwards

On Tuesday 24 October, the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) adopted its position on European CO2 emission reduction targets for heavy-duty vehicles (buses, lorries and trailers) by 48 votes to 36, with one abstention. Of the 18 compromise amendments, 2 were rejected.
