EU Council approves extension of rules of origin on electric vehicles and batteries until end of 2026

On Thursday 21 December, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) approved without amendment the European Commission’s proposal to extend - until the end of 2026 - the current rules of origin for electric vehicles and batteries, agreed at the time of the UK’s exit from the EU (see EUROPE B13308A21).
