On Monday 20 November, in Egypt, the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) adopted measures to protect cetaceans, whale sharks and rays accidentally caught during fishing operations in the area.
A ban has been imposed on these species being retained on board, transhipped or landed.
The contracting parties have increased the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for the northern albacore by 25% to 47,251 tonnes (t) (2024-2026).
