European Parliament to approve increase in number of seats in Chamber to 720 for 2024-2029 parliamentary term

On Wednesday 13 September, the European Parliament is expected to give its approval to increasing the number of seats in its chamber from 705 to 720 for the 2024-2029 parliamentary term, after its Committee on Constitutional Affairs adopted, on Monday 11 September and by a large majority (20 votes in favour, 5 against and 1 abstention), the specific agreement reached by the Council of the EU (see EUROPE B13230A2).
