EU’s climate ambitions and management of migratory flows, two key issues at end of 2019-2024 legislative period

On Tuesday 12 September, on the eve of the State of the Union address to be given by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the political families in the European Parliament set out their main political priorities in the run-up to the European elections in June 2024. Climate and environmental issues, as well as migration, top the list of priorities, whereas the energy crisis and support for Ukraine dominated the 2022 financial year (see EUROPE B13021A1).
