German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited Beijing on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 November, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. This is the first visit by a foreign head of State after the Communist Party Congress in October (see EUROPE B13044A14). Mr Scholz pleaded for cooperation between his country and China, while at the same time raising controversial issues.
