On Wednesday 13 December, the international NGO Reporters Without Borders (RSF) called on the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, to abandon the national security exception in the ‘Media Freedom Act’, which would allow journalists to be monitored in certain cases.

The next round of inter-institutional negotiations (‘trilogue’) will take place on Friday 15 December and could prove conclusive. However, as we wrote on 30 November (see EUROPE B13304A6), negotiations...
