European Parliament calls for release of Gubad Ibadoghlu

14/09/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 14 September, MEPs called for the “immediate and unconditional” release of Dr Gubad Ibadoghlu, a leading Azerbaijani opposition figure, arguing that the charges against him are trumped up and politically motivated. In the resolution they adopted (539 votes in favour, 6 against and 24 abstentions), they called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release all political prisoners, independent journalists and human rights activists.
