European Commission approves two new protected names

07/09/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Wednesday 6 September, that it had approved the registration of ‘Twaróg wędzony’ cheese from Poland as a Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) and ‘Szabolcsi alma’ apples from Hungary as new Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). ‘Twaróg wędzony’ (smoked curd cheese) is a special type of unripened curd cheese made from cow’s milk, with a traditional production history of about 40 years.
