European Commission proposes creation of a European statute for associations

The European Parliament called for this in 2022, and the European Commission is now proposing to make it a reality. On Tuesday 5 September, it proposed a regulation and a directive enabling the legal form of “European cross-border association” (ECBA) to be created in the legal systems of the Member States. This statute is aimed at not-for-profit associations wishing to operate in more than one EU Member State.
