Concept of ‘selling price’ does not include amount of deposit, says Court of Justice of the EU

The concept of ‘selling price’, within the meaning of Directive 98/6/EC on consumer protection in the indication of the prices of products, does not include the amount of the deposit that consumers pay when purchasing products in returnable containers, ruled the Court of Justice of the European Union in a judgment delivered on Thursday 29 June (Case C-543/21).
