MEPs adopt position on International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas measures

25/10/23 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 October, the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries adopted its position on measures set out by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT). The new rules cover: - definitions of support vessels and fish aggregating devices (FADs); - for tropical tuna, capacity limitations, and prohibition of discards caught by purse seiners; - new provisions relating to the deployment of FADs and coverage by observers; -...
