EU VAT gap fell between 2020 and 2021

25/10/23 (Agence Europe) – In 2021, Member States lost around €61 billion in value added tax (VAT), compared with €99 billion in 2020, according to a European Commission report published on Tuesday 24 October. This represents an unprecedented improvement compared with previous years. This figure represents revenue lost mainly as a result of fraud, tax avoidance and evasion, non-fraudulent bankruptcies, miscalculations and financial insolvency, among other reasons. A number of...
