EU fully supports French ambassador that Paris is keeping in Niger despite expulsion order

There is no way France will withdraw its ambassador, Sylvain Itté, from Niger, despite the order given to him by the Nigerien authorities on Friday 25 August to leave the country within 48 hours. On Tuesday 29 August, the EU was keen to support the French ambassador in Niamey.
