EU welcomes end of mandatory death penalty for eleven serious crimes

21/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On 16 June, Malaysia officially abolished the law that made the death penalty automatic for eleven serious crimes. “The European Union commends Malaysia for passing the Abolition of the Mandatory Death Penalty Bill and Revision of Sentence of Death and Imprisonment for Natural Life”, said European External Action Service (EEAS) spokesperson Nabila Massrali on Wednesday 21 June.
