Average CO2 emissions from new cars registered in Europe fell in 2022, according to EEA

The European Environment Agency (EEA) has announced that average CO2 emissions from new cars registered in Europe fell in 2022, according to provisional data published on Tuesday 20 June. Emissions are down 27% compared to 2019, thanks to the stricter emissions targets that came into force in 2020.

According to the EEA, the main reason for this drop is the recent increase in the number of electric and hybrid cars registered, representing 23% of the new car market compared to 19% in 2021,...
