Geo-blocking, MEPs approve Beata Mazurek’s report, but slightly scale down ambitions for audiovisual media

MEPs adopted, on Wednesday 13 December, the own-initiative report by Beata Mazurek (ECR, Polish) on the revision of EU rules on Geo-blocking (376 votes in favour, 111 against and 107 abstentions).

“It is time to respond to citizens’ demands by facilitating access to films, series and sporting events in their mother tongue. The Commission should carefully assess the possibilities for updating the current rules and provide the support the audiovisual sector needs”, commented the...
