On Tuesday 21 November, the European Parliament adopted by a large majority (448 votes in favour, 65 against and 114 abstentions) its position on a new European framework for the voluntary certification for carbon removals, with the aim of helping the EU to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
The vote confirms the report backed by Lídia Pereira (EPP, Portuguese) and adopted by the European Parliament’s Environment Committee (ENVI) on 24 October (see EUROPE B13278A8).
