Belgium’s Data Protection Authority prohibits transfer of tax data to United States

22/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 24 May, Belgium’s Data Protection Authority (DPA) declared unlawful and decided to prohibit transfers of personal data belonging to Belgian ‘accidental Americans’ from the Federal Public Finance Service (SPF Finances) to the US Internal Revenue Service under the intergovernmental FATCA agreement (see EUROPE B13107A22).
