The EU is set to object to measures restricting the use of drifting fish aggregating devices (DFADs), which were adopted at the sixth special session of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) on 5 February.
These measures were presented by 11 coastal states (Indonesia was the initiator of the proposal) and were adopted by a two-thirds majority (16 out of 23 votes) in this regional fisheries organisation of which the EU is a member(see EUROPE B13115A4).
