REPowerEU, revision of 2030 renewable energy target divides EU Member States

08/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The latest meeting of EU Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) showed continued divisions over raising the EU’s target for the share of renewable energy in the energy mix by 2030, several sources told EUROPE on Wednesday 7 December. A group of countries including Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Luxembourg would like to set this target at 45%, as proposed by the European Commission in its REPowerEU plan.
