Fraud in development project in South Africa

Brussels, 03/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 3 October, the European anti-fraud office OLAF announced that its investigations had contributed to court decisions against three European companies found guilty of fraud in a major hydroelectric development project in Lesotho, in South Africa. The companies (incorporated in France, Italy and Germany) were fined a total of €4.4 million by the judiciary in Lesotho. European Development Fund (EDF) financing for the project amounted to €61.2 million...
