Parliament calls for uniform minimum penalties to be established, eagerly awaiting proposals on ship controls

Brussels, 04/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Adopting in Strasbourg on Thursday the report by Elspeth Attwool (ELDR, UK) on Member States' violations of Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) rules in 2000, the European Parliament recommended that a uniform system of minimum penalties be established throughout the EU for violations of the CFP in order to make fishermen more confidence about the basic principle of equal treatment. The Commission was invited to present its 2001 report as soon as possible...
