Parliament calls for uniform minimum penalties to be established, eagerly awaiting proposals on ship controls

Brussels, 04/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - Adopting in Strasbourg on Thursday the report by Elspeth Attwool (ELDR, UK) on Member States' violations of Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) rules in 2000, the European Parliament recommended that a uniform system of minimum penalties be established throughout the EU for violations of the CFP in order to make fishermen more confidence about the basic principle of equal treatment.
