Commission allocates EUR 6.85 million in humanitarian aid for victims of Chechnya conflict

Brussels, 15/10/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to provide EUR 6.85 additional financial aid to support victims of the Chechnya conflict and people in the neighbouring republics in the Northern Caucasus. The money will be channelled through the EU's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) and will help cater for the most pressing needs - food, primary health care and basic household and school items - of the internally displaced people, returnees and the most vulnerable...
