Wide agreement between Competition Commissioner and Italian government on measures being prepared in Rome to boost Mezzogiorno economy

Brussels, 14/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of the Italian government lead by the under-secretary to the Council Presidency, Enrico Micheli and by the Minister of Finance and the Economy, Vincenzo Visco c Cesare Salvi met the European Competition Commissioner Mario Monti. Following an in-depth exchange of views, the two parties noted a large consensus on the measures, fiscal and other, that the Italian government wants to boost the Mezzogiorno economy.
