01/09/2026 (Agence Europe) – As the anti-dumping duties on steel wires and strands originating in China, in force since 2009, are due to expire shortly, the European Commission decided on Tuesday 1 September to open a review of these measures in order to determine whether they should be renewed. Steel strands are high-resistance reinforcements used for major structures such as bridges or oil platforms. According to the Commission, the applicant, the European Stress Information Service (ESIS), has provided sufficient evidence indicating that the expiry of the measures could lead to an increase in imports of this product into the EU as well as a recurrence of the injury caused to European industry. The review is therefore intended to determine whether the removal of the duties is indeed likely to lead to a recurrence of dumping and injury.
