The first National Tree and Forest Week came to an end on Saturday 29 August in the Central African Republic, with an afforestation operation attended by Central African President Faustin-Archange Touadéra and European authorities, as part of the European Union Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUAM RCA).
“Team Europe contributed to the national effort, with the EUAM RCA Acting Head of Mission, and the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union, H.E. Diego Escalona Paturel, and other mission members taking part in tree planting alongside national and international partners”, the European External Action Service (EEAS) said on Monday.
Deployed in Bangui in July 2020, EUAM RCA is a mission under the European Union’s Common Security and Defence Policy aimed at providing strategic advice to the internal security forces.
“For EUAM RCA, environmental protection also has an institutional dimension. Sustainable management of natural resources requires strong public institutions, effective coordination and cooperation between the services responsible for protecting the country’s forests and natural resources”, the EEAS noted.
