31/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – According to statistics published on Friday 31 July by the European Central Bank (ECB), the interest rates offered by euro area banks remained high in June, alongside the ECB’s increase in key interest rates (see EUROPE 13886/6). The average cost of new loans to businesses rose by 15 basis points compared with May, to 3.79%, while that of mortgage loans to households remained virtually stable, at 3.51%. Rates on new term deposits also increased, to 2.21% for businesses and 2.09% for households, reflecting higher remuneration for savings. (BD)
