European Commission launches consultation for a plan to protect children against crime

08/06/26 (Agence Europe)On Monday 1 June, the European Commission launched a call for evidence for the development of a European action plan to better protect children against crime in both digital and public spaces. Open until 29 June at midnight, the consultation will contribute to the preparation of this initiative, which is scheduled for adoption in the fourth quarter of 2026. The future plan, announced in the ProtectEU internal security strategy, aims to address the risk of children becoming victims of crime or being recruited by criminal networks, both online and offline. The European Commission hopes to propose a coherent, cross-cutting approach to the various threats that minors face. The plan should also define a framework of principles for European action, centred on the child’s best interests. The call: https://aeur.eu/f/m7y (NP)
