European Commission calls on Member States to enforce Pay Transparency Directive

08/06/2026 (Agence Europe)With the deadline for transposing the Pay Transparency Directive having fallen on Sunday 7 June, the European Commission called on Member States the following day to continue their efforts to ensure equal pay for women and men (see EUROPE 13882/22). The text, which entered into force in 2023, aims to improve the application of the principle of equal pay for women and men for the same work or for work of an equal value. According to the latest data from Eurostat, the gross hourly pay for women in the European Union remains 11.1% lower than that of men. In its press release, the European Commission noted that it had earmarked more than €3.8 million to support its implementation, with a further €5 million planned under a call for proposals launched in 2026. (NP)
