The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, said that the “democratic and inclusive” parliamentary election held in Kosovo on Sunday 7 June “opens the door to turn the page after more than a year of political deadlock”. “Political leaders now need to engage constructively to ensure the swift formation of government”, she wrote in a post on X, on Monday 8 June.
Also on social media, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, congratulated Prime Minister Albin Kurti on his party’s victory in a “calm, inclusive and orderly voting process”. She also called on the country’s political forces to “find compromises to build institutional stability”, as well as to “step up work on Kosovo’s EU integration”.
“Progress in the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and the normalisation of relations with Serbia remains essential for advancing on Kosovo’s European path”, the EU’s foreign policy chief added. (Original version in French by Ana Pisonero Hernández)
