EU Member States open to introduction of marketing standards for cider and pulses

On Monday 5 June, almost all EU Member States expressed a willingness to explore the idea of introducing marketing standards for cider and perry, as well as for dried pulses and soya beans.

This idea is included in a European Commission report adopted at the same time as the revision of the ‘breakfast’ directives (see EUROPE B13167A1). According to the report, which was discussed by the Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA), “in the absence of any EU specification for ‘cider’...
